Abilities:

Sam was raised a hunter by his father, John Winchester. Sam is very skilled in hand-to-hand combat as well as firearms and other weaponry. Sam has an excellent shot and is well versed in Latin. Sam is also well versed with his laptop and can easily hack into other computers. Like his brother, he is trained in lock picking, car jacking, etc. Sam is intelligent and caring, which allows him to easily gain someone’s trust.

With the help of the demon blood from the Azazel when he was six months old, Sam develops precognitive abilities. Sam’s premonitions began initially through his dreams but then later progressed to happen while he was awake. He found that he had no control over when the premonitions occur or what they are about. Once Azazel died, Sam’s visions ceased.

He also has some telekinetic abilities, but this ability only happened once when he was extremely anxious. When Sam drank Ruby’s blood, he discovered that his telekinesis returned.

Again, with the help of demon blood, Sam was able to exorcise a demon from its host through the will of his mind. At first, this power caused him powerful headaches and nosebleeds but as he ingested more demon blood and practiced, the side-effects ceased.

He is immune to the Croatoan virus.

Sam is human and has all of the natural weaknesses humans possess (i.e. illness and injury). Sam’s weakness has been and always will be his brother. He would do anything for Dean and has proven that over and over again. Without Dean, Sam is only half the man he is.

That being said, although loyalty is a strength, it is also a weakness to Sam as he is profoundly loyal to the people that he holds close to him and it often leads him into trouble.

Appearance:

Sam is 6’4 and a muscular build. He has brown shaggy hair, hazel eyes and is clean-shaven. He has an anti-possession tattoo on his chest and various scars over his body from the multiple fights he has been in. The most pronounced scar on his body is on his wrist from when Sam was possessed by a demon. The demon had seared a binding symbol on Sam’s wrist so that exorcism would not make the demon vacate Sam’s body. It is a circular scar with a line through it.

Personality:

Sam is very intelligent. He has always liked to read and he had adapted that to many aspects in his life. He is charming with a good sense of humour and he can battle wits with the best of them. When Dean plays a prank on him, Sam always seeks his revenge on his older brother.

Sam is self-less and often carries a lot of guilt around with him. He feels guilty for his girlfriend, Jessica’s, death and he thinks he should have done more to protect her. He feels guilty for his father’s death and the fact that he wasn't in the room with his father when he died. He also feels guilty for Dean’s deal that he had made with the Crossroad’s Demon. Dean made the deal to save Sam and Sam still carries the guilt that his brother died and went to hell for a period of time because of him.

Sam is seen to be more sensitive and some would say, more innocent than his brother. Sam is more of a talker and he likes to see the whole picture of the situation in order to assess the best route in doing things.

Even though Sam rebelled against his father in going to Stanford, Sam would do anything for his family, be it John, Bobby or Dean. Above all the others, including himself, he would do anything for Dean.
